The triangular, truncated pyramid tower is intersected by a podium that contains reception and banking halls, conference facilities, dining and banquet rooms, and a museum.

The two stone walls of the southern, city-facing tower reduce energy consumption by functioning as a heat sink to absorb the harsh Kuwaiti sun during the day and use the stored heat to keep away the cold at night.  An all-glass northern elevation protects the interior from solar gain while providing panoramic views across the Arabian Gulf. At night, the top of the building will glow like a beacon and add a significant presence to the Kuwait skyline.

The Main Hospital building is on a 67,000 m2 area plot, with a total area of approximately 466,000 m2. It has 1903 beds, includes a full range of services and will function as a Trauma Center for the Jahra district. It is organized around a five-story atrium. Major diagnostic and treatment programs and outpatient programs are located on the west side of the atrium. Inpatient bed wings are 14 stories tall, located on the east side of the atrium. Internal service corridors and bridges allow for horizontal inpatient transfer and service functions.

Major departments include: Accident and Emergency with Helipad on the roof and separate Adult and Pediatric treatment areas; over 20 Outpatient Clinics; Outpatient Procedures including Endoscopy, Pulmonary and Cardiology; Radiology and Nuclear Medicine; Same Day Medical observation unit; a modern Surgical suite with 20 OR’s including 2 hybrid rooms; a Women’s Center including Women’s Inpatient beds include Adult, Pediatric and Women’s Center beds as well as 12 unique ICU bed units.

Construction of dual (3-lanes and 4-lanes) expressways including parallel collector distributor roads 2 lanes.

Utilities Works;

Construction of culvert for KOC pipelines protection. Construction of a storm water drainage network, including pump stations, culverts, pipes, manholes and gullies. Protection, relocation and construction of water pipelines, sanitary sewers. Protection, relocation and construction of irrigation work including pipes, valves, fittings.

Electrical Works & Instrumentation;

Protection, relocation and construction of electricity network 11kv. Construction of the necessary civil works for the relocation/protection of 33kv electric cables, and coordination with responsible authorities for the required relocation. Electrical work including cables, road crossing ducts, UPVC LT ducts, earth bonding & grounding. Construction of the necessary civil works for the relocation/protection of telephone cables, interfering with the works, and coordination with responsible authorities for the required relocation. Telephone work including UPVC ducts/pipes, manholes, optical fiber cable and sub duct (3×32+2×25) mm. Finishing & Landscape;

Removal and planting of palms, and removal and disposal for trees and shrubs interfering with the works. Road works, including pavement, sidewalks, signing and marking and concrete barriers

Bridge works;

139 m bridge for Interchange (IC 8). 50 meter bridge for Interchange (IC 7). Concrete works for bridges including blinding, combined footing, piers, retaining wall, abutments, precast parapet. Installation of pot bearing for abutment and piers, pre-stressed strands and pre-stressed concrete deck slab.

The scope of works includes;

Civil, Mechanical & Electrical for the Central Utility Plants 1 & 2 and the ancillary buildings including water tanks, treated sewage effluent tank, cooling towers, etc. district cooling system including chilled water pipes, pumps, condensers, etc.

Firefighting system including sprinklers, hose reels, landing valves etc.  Plumbing system including cold water hot water, drainage, and associated works. Metal works such as cable trays. Central Utility Plants are two identical buildings 27,500 m2 in area and 22 m in height. 18 nos Chillers x 2,000 TR=36,000 TR; 18 Nos. Cooling Towers Cells; 13 nos.
